Janet’s workshop offers an
opportunity for painters to grow as artists. Watercolor and still life/floral
setups will be used as “Tools” to enter
into the creative process. Using flowers as “live models”, Janet shares the
thought processes that go into
creating setups. Continuing with a “hands on” approach, she guides students to
consider value, shape, size,
color, rhythm and composition in arranging their own individual setups. The
workshop will cover demonstrations,
exercises, editing and critiques. We will also be covering the approach of
painting still life from photographs.
Each student will have ample time to create, experiment and paint.

In this workshop, Karen will demonstrate how to interpret color and value to keep your painting “luminous”.
An intense one-day workshop, focusing on the principals involved in setting up a still life, and working as a contemporary realist. Composition: simplifying your subject, and lighting techniques will be discussed. Warm/cool colors and relationship to lighting will be highlighted. Participants may bring any color medium – paint, pastels, pencils, etc. Instructor demo will be done with oil paint. Expect to complete one small painting, (or a few small pastels or color pencil drawings). Bring whatever materials you have.
